We strongly oppose the Legislation (Definitions of Woman and Man) Amendment Bill. It raises significant human rights concerns, and we urge the Social Services and Community Committee to recommend that it not proceed.The Bill is inconsistent with human rights and Te Tiriti o Waitangi. This proposal risks harming takatāpui, transgender, non-binary and intersex people who already suffer from harm and discrimination.
